A Vintage Carafe’s Holiday Dress Rehearsal!
As some of you already know, I decided to tag along with hubs on his road trip this past weekend – he was giving a 2-day workshop, and me, well I brought along a little paperwork to do. But really, to be footloose and fancy free in a new community… who was I kidding ? I couldn’t resist a little thrift!
I found some treasures along the way, but it was this little vintage Art Deco carafe that stole my heart.
At first I walked away because it had no lid and the tea light insert was missing. But around the corner was a tea light insert that turned out to be a good fit.
Walk away, walk away, WALK AWAY!
I couldn’t. I loved the stand, the aged patina and the carafe’s perky little shape. Suddenly it all came together, and in an instant I knew this piece was definitely coming home with me! It was going to be perfect for my Holiday decor (which just happens to be #3 on my friend Shauna’s Holiday Countdown Planner for this week)!!
I pictured it looking something like this…
Then added some flowers so it looked like this.
For the Holidays I plan to use fresh holly and other greens, and there definitely won’t be any dye discolouring the water! Some of the filler in this bouquet was dyed – never my first choice. Why do they do that anyway?
I might even opt for a variation of this holly and floating tea light display from 2 years ago. You can find more decorating idea from that year here.
I really did love this presentation, but I remember it was a bit of a pain to keep the water fresh and clean… How about you, Heather? Did you find this too? I’m also trying to decide if I have the patience to fish the holly out of the carafe at the end of the Holiday season. Hmmm, do you think I do?
For now my little thrifted treasure is sitting on my table looking like this!
And now I’m on the hunt for a vintage tray with lots of patina to add to this mix! Click here to see how I worked in other thrifted and vintage finds with last year’s decor.
I would like to give my friend, Shauna a special shout out for her Holiday Countdown Planner series. If you’re not following along with Shauna’s countdown, I seriously think you should! I did this last year, and it totally saved my holiday bacon! Thanks Shauna!!!
Have you started planning your Holiday decor? Are you into thrifting for a vintage look?
Thanks for stopping by!
