DIY Project: Pine Chest Revealed!
If you read my post yesterday, you will know what the pine chest revealed is all about! But if you missed it, you can read about it here.
So to pick up where I left off…
This is the staple gun that I’m the proud new owner of. In the past I’ve borrowed my Dad’s, but hubby decided it was time we had one of our own so we can do more projects like this one 😉
It’s always a little stressful committing to that first staple…
But so far so good.
Lots of tugging and pulling going on, but only with the fabric! Seriously. Hubby is a great helper 🙂
And Kaleigh is a great sport!
She’s liking the progress so far.
Finally all the edges are stapled tight.
We had to check and double check to make sure there was no rippling on the front because of the lining in between. And we also had to make sure the pattern was going on straight.
Now the moment of truth…
Will the hardware fit properly? We opted to cover over the screws and then cut openings for them to poke through the fabric. So I was concerned the nut wouldn’t have enough room to really tighten up properly on each screw.
But everything worked perfectly.
Even the fabric is straight!
Here is another look at the ‘before’…
And here is the ‘after’…
We wanted to add nailhead trim in gold or burnished gold to the edge, but I wasn’t able to find any before this project got underway. We decided to carry on and will add the trim later… unless Kaleigh decides she likes the chest this way without it.
For now she says she likes it the way it is.
What do you think? Add the nailhead trim or leave it the way it is? To give you the full picture, Kaleigh plans to have a few throw pillows on top of the chest…
So what’s next? If you guessed throw pillows, you guessed right!
It’s about coming home… If you want a remarkable space that tells your story, contact me to see how we can help!
