Landscaping Day 2 & 3: The End!

I promised to bring you day 2 of the landscaping saga, but I didn’t bank (literally) on a day 3 as well!

But before I could get down to this day of weeding I went and bought a new pair of gloves. Leather work gloves. No kidding. This little plot is full of thistles, and that’s no fun when all you want to do is grab and tug! Here’s a look at my gloves…

Day 1 – pretty in pink! Day 2 – tough leather, quickly broken in!

So here’s a reminder shot, the ‘Before’ that faced me…

No-one said it was going to be easy!

Here’s the end of Day 1 (3.5 hours of weeding)…

Yup, my body felt it!

Here’s the end of Day 2 (3 hours of weeding)…

I stopped right between these two beauties that began to surface as the weeds disappeared…

Can you see the Rhododendrons amongst the weeds?

And I discovered a few more Rhodos on day 3 too!

Here are some healthy herbs that were rescued from beneath the grass…

I think one is a type of oregano and the other is a lemony mint of some kind. If you know, please, please leave me a comment. That way I’ll know what to do with them!

So at the end of Day 2 this is what we hauled away to Bings Creek (the CVRD solid waste management complex)…

It doesn’t look like much in this picture, but remember, we had the same amount in Day 1, and almost as much in Day 3! That’s a lot of yard waste…

So here’s a look at Day 3 (4 hours of weeding), the overhaul weeding part of the project now complete…

Hard to believe it’s the same terrain as in the first photo isn’t it?

And here’s a close-up of all the 4 Rhodos we extrapolated! There’s another shrub in there too, the one right in the middle.

Do you know what that one is? Apparently the deer like it, and we do have deer wandering through the yard.  We’ll see if they discover it now that it’s disentangled from the net of weeds!

So just to recap, at the end of 3 days we went from this…

To this…

10.5 hours of weeding in total! Next will be finding a home for the ornamental grass.

Hhhh… all in a day’s (or three days) work!

Do you know what the herbs are, and/or the name of the shrub between the Rhodos? I’d love to hear from you!

It’s about coming home… If you want a remarkable space that tells your story, contact me to see how we can help!

    1. I just kept telling myself, ‘curb appeal, curb appeal, curb appeal’! I’m glad it’s done so the focus can shift back to the inside. Today we’re getting started on recovering Kaleigh’s pine chest in the gold fabric, and I’m definitely ready for that!

    1. Thanks Victoria! That’s the question of the day. There’s so much rock, no shade and not a lot of soil. So we have some decisions to make. How much do we do now, what do we do, and where do we do it? It’ll be fun to work through this though…
