It feels like forever since I’ve been able to tackle a project, and my DIY list is getting kinda long!
I’ve been working away at the office, you know, trying to purge it and bring some pretty into the space. But then my days got lassoed away with random appointments and commitments, and before I knew it weeks had slipped by! Stay tuned. The office will get finished… it drives me a little crazy when projects hang on forever.
In the mean time, here’s a glimpse at what I was up to this weekend.
Yup, this bookcase is from the office, and it’s getting a makeover!
And since it’s not a quality investment piece, I’m just using up some paint I already had…
Do you remember this colour?
But I’m adding a little something extra to give it a bit of ‘today’ style.
Kind of fun to try something new.
All the painting is done, and now the bookcase just needs to fully dry. Then I can move on to the wallpaper. And then… show you the reveal
I need to get some Rub ‘N Buff, too. I have a frame that needs to take on this metallic hue… But I’ve never used it before, so if you have, which metallicy one do you suggest?
Oh, I saw this same bookcase being sold second-hand for $75 and a shelf was missing! Seriously, even though the shelves are solid pine, that price is not a deal for this piece! Just say’n in case you’re looking!
So, are you working on any projects right now? Do you go into DIY withdrawal when demands on your time keep you away? If you’re like me, then I bet you do!
It’s about coming home… and home is a remarkable space that tells your story. Contact me if you need a little help!

Jenny at Little Green Notebook uses Rub ‘n Buff a good bit — head over there to see what she says about the colors! Can’t wait to see what you do!
a girl after my own heart when it comes to DIY in our own offices. Loving the wallpaper idea as backdrop for the bookcase.
Ah the often relegated home office. As a creative I find a lot of value and inspiration from the home office, so I definitely think it is worth the effort. Although the way that life goes it tends to get pushed down the priority list more than once or twice. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
Good-bye knotty pine!! But Sheila… you’re a real tease to only show bits & peices of the transformation. I guess I’ll just have to come back when you post the bookcase reveal
I have a pile of DIY projects waiting for me, but I’m such a procrastinator these days!! I also don’t have a terrific garage for me to do my painting in like you do. Yes, not only am I a procrastinator but I’m also full of excuses LOL!
Victoria
Darryl is obsessed about our home office. I have to admit I would like to see some change, howerver I’ve got some other projects to see through first!
I like the bit of bling you chose!
I agree with Victoria – you ARE a tease for only showing us bits and pieces! Will wait anxiously for the sequel. Super project – LOVE the wallpaper.
Oh I can’t wait for the reveal. I definitely go into some serious withdrawal when I haven’t done any DIY recently. I usually have a pile waiting for me to make the time.
Hey Sheila
All your projects look amazing and I can’t wait to see your bookcase. We had the exact same one, I believe it came from Ikea?? It was my mom’s. My brother still has the sideboard that went with it, they painted it a nice dark grey and replaced the pulls. Those Ikea pieces really clean up nicely. Happy Valentine’s Day S!
Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see it!
