7 things about me… (I agree with Luciane, this is the hardest part!)

1. I’d much rather we talk about you! Seriously. But here goes…
2. My roots are very small town – I was born and raised on the Queen Charlotte Islands, (Haida Gwaii) BC, but my heart loves the city. Coming from a small town has definitely influenced my approach to styling spaces. I believe in starting with what you have, showcasing what’s meaningful to you, maybe a little repurposing or refinishing, and then adding something incredibly fun and fantastic that’s new… at least new to you, no matter where it comes from.
3. I love the ocean. It is what grounds me, and where I go when I just need to think, and re-balance. I love to walk on the beach, and I’m fascinated with fossils and rocks. Growing up my family spent our Easters camping in a rustic cabin on the rugged West Coast of the Charlottes, and we scoured the shores for glass balls (Japanese glass fishing floats). To this day I am very attached to glass balls, and love it when they pop up unexpectedly in decor.
4. My family means everything to me. I have an amazing 16-year old daughter who keeps me real, and makes me so proud, and I’m married to the love of my life , the biggest fan a girl could hope for…
5. I worked in the public school system for 15 years before relocating to Vancouver Island where I live now. For most of those years I was a Special Education Assistant, and had the priviledge of working with a visually impaired student. This is when I learned to read Braille, and became very passionate about Braille Literacy… do you ever  notice the Braille in elevators, or at instant teller machines? I wish we could have Braille everywhere!
6. This blog has become such a big part of my life. My husband and I joke that it’s what gets me out of bed in the morning, and keeps me up far too late at night! In part that’s true, but honestly, I love to check in to see what everyone else is up to. I love the blogging world because you really do meet so many people that you never would otherwise, and you make some great friends along the way. It’s just so amazing that with one click you can have your whole day light up by learning something new. The open sharing and caring from blogging friends is incredible, and I really do appreciate it when comments are left on my blog – I read them all, learn from them, and try to send a reply… I think it’s the comments that make a post so interesting – we all learn from what others have to say.
7. If you were to spend a day or two with me you would learn that…

• one of my favorite colours is green, but you’ll usually see me wearing something black (I know, I know… I just have a thing for black!)
• I love dark chocolate, and chocolate mousse is my favorite dessert
• I enjoy wine – red more than white
• I’m not a fussy eater – trying new things is part of the fun… except for liver
• My first movie pick is something ‘feel good’
• Adele is my current sing along… LOVE her new CD
