We’re seeing a lot of them in today’s decor, and I don’t think I’m alone in feeling the love. Want to see how they’re being used?
Grain sacks repurposed into pillows like this are right at the top.

You’ll see them paired with grain sack throws, and other vintage pieces, too.

So pretty, and not very hard to do.
But how about using grain sacks for a stair runner?

I love the turquoise stripe in them. Turquoise and stripes… a perfect combination that makes me feel happy 🙂
Even draping a grain sack just the way it is makes a statement.

Honestly, what’s left to do?
I like the idea of grain sack placemats.

Notice how the grain sacks are placed differently on each seat? I think that’s a great touch.
Do you have anything made from repurposed European grain sacks? I don’t, but sure would like to! Hmmm… guess I’ll add another thing to my DIY wish list 😉

I wonder what the texture is like? Are they soft? They look soft…but I’ve never actually held a European grain sack in my hands. Do you know of the significance of the stripe? It’s colour or number of lines? There’s a research project for you Sheila! I’ll be waiting…LOL!!!
What’s not to love? Every single one of these looks is so nice. My friend Pam at Simple Details just revealed a pillow she had been working on. She picked up old coffee sacks that a place had been giving away about 10 years ago – and the sacks have pink writing on them! She combined the sacks with some leftover fabric and produced the cutest pillows. Check it out if you have a chance!

Thank you for sharing this with me Holly! Pam’s pillows are amazing – she did a great job with them 🙂
Flour sacks, grain sacks, coffee sacks…everything old is new again it seems! It’s like adding a bit of nostalgia to your home…love it!! Just can’t say it enough:) I have a love for the pillow cases and the placemats. Great post Sheila!
Everytime I see a grainsack bag I just love it.perhaps it’s the simplicity of it. The stair runner idea, now that I have never seen.
Oh I would love to repurpose some vintage grain sacks into tea towels… My grandmother had some like that, they were so soft and practical… Lovely post Sheila! Hope you are well,
