Wire Mannequin Makes A Stand

From the re-covered pine chest, to new covers for throw pillows, to shopping bags displayed as art… Kaleigh’s room continues to come together, one piece at a time. Today a wire mannequin doubling as a coat stand was added to the mix. It’s not vintage, but it is pretty cool!

Here’s a before shot of the corner about to be reworked.

We haven’t been putting too much thought into this area with so many other things on the ‘to do’ list, and all along we’ve been thinking a comfy chair would eventually find a home here. But we were in Victoria the other day and came across these.

This photo doesn’t show it, but there are also cream mannequins the same as the two black ones. It’s kind of hard to see any of them in this collection of shapely wire, but Kaleigh saw enough to be intrigued… although not enough to leave the store with one under her arm 😉

Until today. All week she talked about the mannequins, and which one was her favorite. And then she was starting to design the bare, empty corner of her room with her favorite mannequin – the pros, the cons… if we actually bought it. But when she said she would buy it, meaning she would use her own money to pay for it, I knew she was already sold. Generally Kaleigh buys clothes and shoes, but never furniture and décor!

The store told us on the phone there were mannequins left, but couldn’t confirm that this particular one was still on the floor. So on spec, we made a quick road trip back to Victoria – held our breath as we rounded the corner to the mannequins – and exhaled when the one Kaleigh wanted was still there.

This is the first one that caught our eye.

But Kaleigh really liked the idea of the coat hooks on the other one. Form and function!

It felt a little weird to be walking to the front of the store with the mannequin in my arms, kind of like a dance partner! But even stranger once we got outside!

And then wrestling it into the SUV was a bit of a sight too!

Better that than having to use the roof rack though 🙂

Here are the pieces that will be vignetted with the mannequin.

I think hubby enjoyed his quiet time while we were out…

If you look closely, is there something wrong with this picture?

Sitting and texting didn’t last too long…

Since there were tags to remove!

Here’s hanging the mirror 1-2-3…

And the mirror is in place… We debated its location – height, how far from the corner… Kaleigh had her reasons for where she wanted it, and is hoping down the road to replace this mirror with a large, full length leaning one. This is one we already had, so it’ll work for now.

Do you see the TV in the background? We have found a cabinet, but it’s on the ‘to do’ project list to be repurposed… it’s a bigger project so is waiting in line for 100% of our attention.

And here is the corner with the finishing touches… everything slipped into place!

I love the reflection of the mannequin in the mirror.

This room is coming along, bit by bit, piece by piece. There are lots of little things we’ve done along the way to improve organization and function, but some of those are just not as much fun to blog about!

Is there something in your space that had you SOLD before you ever knew it was about to become yours? Those pieces are the best, aren’t they?

It’s about coming home… If you want a remarkable space that tells your story, contact me to see how we can help!

    1. Hi Jordane!
Thank you so much for stopping by! This mannequin was purchases at Winners in Victoria, BC, and unfortunately we no longer have the tags that would have a product code. I’m not sure where you live, but if you are in Canada, try Home Sense or Winners, and if in the States maybe try Home Goods… after that I’m not sure. If you’re into vintage, then definitely search antique stores, etc.
      Good luck!
      Sheila
