It’s that time!
Just a few more days before the chapter of this summer closes and another school year begins.
What do colours and back-to-school have in common?
Well besides the pride of school colours…
Or the yellow of school buses…
And pencils…
Or the blue, red, and black of ballpoint pens…
The metallic shine of compass sets…
Or the rainbow of colours in pencil crayons…
Okay, you get the picture.
So what do you do when you’re changing schools and everything familiar suddenly looks like this?
All the contents look like things you’ve seen before, but nothing is in the same place.
Yesterday Kaleigh and I went to her new school and got her timetable. We also got a map of the school, a newsletter, the block rotation and a few other things. The secretary was really great. She explained things to us, and then said we were free to walk around the school so Kaleigh could begin to familiarize herself with it. I thought that was a really nice gesture.
When we got home we pulled out these highlighters…
And began to colour code her new schedule with her block rotation with her classroom location.
And we made coloured copies of both, one for each of her binders for her Semester 1 courses.
So what do you do when you change schools?
You do what you do best – and in our case that’s get things organized. Kaleigh likes to have things in order and she’s very visual. It was her idea to colour-code the timetable, block rotation and classroom locations.
Isn’t she great?
And these are just a few examples of how colours and back-to-school connect.
